| The Sam'l Wells & Company was established in 1826 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was one of the oldest buyers of Wild American Ginseng and medicinal herbs in the United States. Sam'l Wells & Co. changed ownership in 1990 and was relocated to Seaman, Ohio where business was conducted at Pondlick Herb Farm. Wild Crafters must obey the department laws in digging ginseng and many endangered plants. | Ohio Department of Natural Resources manages the harvesting of Wild American Ginseng. Wildcrafters beware of the strict laws enforced by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. You must get permission to dig ginseng from private or state property. You must not start digging until September 1, 2009 through December 31 2009. The ginseng plants you dig must have three prongs and be several years old. The red berries on top of the plant must be planted in the same area the ginseng was taken. |
